Although this recommendation is hardly new, it is important in this context to describe that there is a inversely antonymous relationship between capabilities and strategies.Relative strengths in technology and IT capabilities might suggest that a prospector (or even an analyzer) strategy could be a more appropriate choice than a defender strategy. Consistent, successful pursuit of a prospector strategy over time should help a firm develop these relative strengths and enable it to retain its competitive advantage. This implicitly suggests also that a firm tha t recognizes itself as a reactor type should use its internal assessment to decide which prototypical strategic type it should touch to become.
